Five floors, one calm idea. We took a single-storey bungalow and rebuilt it as a contemporary family home that feels settled rather than staged, considered on every level and built to age well.
A single-storey bungalow, reimagined across five floors as a calm, contemporary family home. The instruction was simple and strict: clean, considered, unapologetically modern, and built to feel as settled in twenty years as it does today.
With that much new volume, the danger was a home that felt disjointed floor to floor. We anchored the palette early. Soft greys carry up into warmer bronze and taupe tones on the upper levels, so the scale of the build never overwhelms the feel of it.
Bespoke fitted wardrobes were built into every eave and sloped ceiling on the loft levels, turning awkward angles into clean, uninterrupted storage. Nothing off the shelf, every run drawn to the millimetre.
This is where we let the scheme breathe. One bathroom takes a quiet, spa-like approach: full-height stone, a freestanding bath, low pendant light. The other is the statement of the house, a bold terrazzo-effect wallpaper against grey panelling, playful without tipping into busy.
